Summer Program 1

Summer Program 2

In the summer we have two major activites for children:

Children ages 7-12 in our S.O.A.R Programs are eligible to go to a Christian camp of the Episcopal Church, Camp Edwin Weed, in Live Oak, Florida. Good behavior, good grades, and consistent participation in programs qualifies them to go to our four-day session at this sleep-away camp with exciting activities including archery, rock wall climbing, kayaking, swimming, arts & crafts, and a Vacation Bible School format program. We provide all items for the campers including clothes, linens, and hygiene items.

Reading Academy

In the summer we offer a one-week Reading Academy to rising 1st - 5th graders in our S.O.A.R Program so the children can brush up their reading skills to prepare them to go back to school in August. Previous themes for Reading Academy theme were "Splish! Splash! All About Water," where the children learned how important water is in in God's creation and our need to be good stewards of it. They read and learned about the water cycle, weather and water, our Florida aquifers, and conservation and pollution. In summer of 2019, children participated in the “Friends of the Earth,” in which they learned about climate control, global warming, carbon emissions, recycling, and sustainability.  We explored Lafayette Heritage Trail Park and Wakulla Springs, created with arts & crafts, enjoyed water games, and had fun learning about our precious resources.
